Sparky and Rhonda Rucker in Concert at Brooks Memorial Library
Brattleboro ~ Duo Sparky and Rhonda Rucker perform songs and stories from the American folk tradition at Brooks Memorial Library, 224 Main St. in Brattleboro on November 13 at 7:00 p.m..

Internationally recognized musicians, authors, and storytellers, they accompany themselves with fingerstyle picking and bottleneck blues guitar, blues harmonica, old-time banjo, piano, spoons, and bones.  Their music includes a variety of old-time blues, Appalachian music, Civil War music, ballads, civil rights music, and their own original compositions. Sparky and Rhonda have performed at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. and the Smithsonian Folklife Festival as well as NPR's All Things Considered, Prairie Home Companion, Mountain Stage, and Morning Edition. Their recording, Treasures & Tears, was nominated for a W.C. Handy Award, and their music is also included on the Grammy-nominated anthology, Singing Through the Hard Times.

Pete Seeger said “Sparky Rucker is unique! He’ll make you glad to be alive and struggling.” And U. Utah Phillips said “It’s an absolute must to see Sparky in concert!” Come and see for yourself, and bring the whole family.  Rhonda’s books for children, based on Sparky’s childhood growing up in the South will be available for sale and signing.

The program is free, accessible to people in wheelchairs and open to the public.
